Three Things You Can Do For ADHD/ADD

Understanding the importance of mindfulness and meditation can greatly benefit individuals, especially those with ADD. Mindfulness refers to the practice of being still and present, while meditation involves prayer and communication with God. Personally, when I engage in meditation, I focus on being in the presence of the Lord, which provides me with significant relief. Throughout my 30 years as a Christian, I realize I have rarely embraced mindfulness—often prioritizing conversation with God over stillness. While I have attempted to listen to Him, my thoughts often drifted towards what I wanted to say instead.

To practice mindfulness, I focus on a specific area between my eyes on my forehead, which I refer to as my “third eye.” This spot is where I experience deep thinking and heightened activity due to my ADD. By concentrating on this area and attempting to relax, I find that it helps calm my mind. Admittedly, my ADD sometimes makes this challenging, but when I succeed in relaxing that part of my brain, it fosters a connection that allows me to speak with God. I typically aim to dedicate 5 to 15 minutes to this relaxation process before opening up to Him.

As I continued to practice mindfulness, I noticed its positive effects on my daily life. When my ADD symptoms intensify, mindfulness serves as a tool to help me slow down and regain control of my thoughts. While it can be difficult due to my ADD, the more I practice, the better I manage my racing thoughts during overwhelming moments.

I hope this message resonates with others. I believe that incorporating mindfulness into your routine could provide substantial benefits for managing ADD.
